The Center of Mathematics and Applications (NOVA Math), promote the Seminar of Analysis with the title: “Optimized Schwarz Methods: Challenges and Promises at Continuous and Algebraic Levels”. Lahcen Laayouni (School of Science and Engineering, Al Akhawayn University) is the speaker.
Abstract: Optimized Schwarz methods are a class of domain decomposition techniques designed to improve the convergence of iterative solvers for partial differential equations (PDEs) by imposing optimized transmission conditions. This talk explores the challenges and promises of these methods at both continuous and algebraic levels. At the continuous level, we address the design of effective transmission conditions, their dependence on problem-specific parameters. At the algebraic level, we examine the construction of algebraic block transmission conditions for robust preconditioners. Through theoretical and numerical results, we show the potential of optimized Schwarz methods to handle large-scale PDE problems.
