The Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics was created in 1983 with two branches, Educational Training and Scientific-Technological. In 1988, this situation changed with the creation of two distinct branches in the scientific-technological area, the branches of Applied Mathematics in Actuarial Sciences and Applied Mathematics in Operational Research. The branch of Applied Mathematics in Statistical Sciences emerged in 1989. In 2002, there was a new curricular reorganisation, leaving two branches in operation: Applied Mathematics (4 years) and Educational Training (5 years). In 2006, with the aim of adapting the previous degree to the Bologna Process, the Degree in Mathematics (1st cycle - 3 years) was approved.
