The Department of Mathematics (DM) of the NOVA School of Science and Technology | NOVA University of Lisbon (NOVA FCT) is a permanent academic unit dedicated to teaching, research and the promotion of Mathematics in all its areas. With a predominantly PhD-qualified academic staff, the Department is responsible for undergraduate, master’s and doctoral programmes, delivers core curricular units across a wide range of NOVA FCT degree courses, and conducts research of recognised scientific merit, in close collaboration with the Centre for Mathematics and Applications (NOVA Math). Its academic staff and researchers are actively involved in scientific projects, outreach initiatives and national and international partnerships, reinforcing the central role of Mathematics in scientific and technological education and in addressing contemporary societal challenges.
